Meta turns Muse sharing back on
Meta恢复Muse分享功能
Meta re-enabled Muse sharing despite researchers finding exposed links to private conversations, leaving users to weigh convenience against the risk of discoverable pages.
Judgment
Meta’s David Singleton has re-enabled Muse artifact sharing with new URLs, forcing people who already shared artifacts to redistribute links while old visitors get a note; the tradeoff is restored sharing against residual discoverability risk.
Basis
David Singleton posted on X that "The underlying issue is now fixed, and sharing is back on." He said the flaw involved URLs for shared Muse artifacts—documents and images inside Muse—not chat sharing. Shared artifacts now get new URLs; anyone opening an old link sees a note asking them to get the new one from the sharer. That follows Claroc’s report that Muse conversation web addresses were named after a conversation’s title and written into public DNS, with examples including a marketing company’s internal revenue review and a small business owner’s loan application. Ars Technica reported Meta paused sharing after being contacted.
Unclear The source does not say whether the old URLs or their DNS entries were actually removed, or whether the new artifact URLs are now unguessable.
Next Check whether old Muse artifact links now resolve only to the "get the new one" note and whether Claroc can still find newly shared pages via DNS.
