Ethereum delays Glamsterdam test after security devs flag risk to existing contracts
以太坊在安全开发者指出现有合约风险后推迟 Glamsterdam 测试
Ethereum developers must decide whether to push back the Glamsterdam upgrade or accept smart contracts being able to permanently record failed operations under the new gas rules.
Judgment
Ethereum's All Core Devs Execution must choose whether to rework EIP-8037/8038 gas accounting before rescheduling Hoodi, accepting delay and no 200 million gas test, or ship rules that can make failure handling permanent for existing contracts.
Basis
Developers postponed Monday's Glamsterdam activation on Hoodi during Thursday's All Core Devs Execution meeting. ChainSecurity's Oct. 13 analysis found EIP-8037, which changes charges for creating new database records, combined with EIP-8038 could alter how contracts respond when a called contract runs out of gas. Gas used to create certain records can be restored when changes are undone, potentially leaving enough gas for a contract to complete failure-handling that previously would have reversed. ChainSecurity also calculated a new storage slot could require 110,020 gas when a separate allowance is exhausted, versus 22,100 under old rules, so an existing gas budget might fail an otherwise valid operation.
- Allowance exhausted110,020 gas
- Old rules22,100 gas
Unclear The source does not name any affected production protocol or quantify how many existing contracts would change behavior under the proposed gas rules.
