Building a multiplayer game world with autonomous Fable-class models
用自主的 Fable 级模型构建多人游戏世界
Worth reading to see how Fable-class models handle autonomous multiplayer world-building, and where the limits of letting models make design decisions unsupervised will show up.
Judgment
Jacob Sansbury's team at Spawn must decide whether a 30-second rollback, hourly shipping and treating any quiet hour as a SEV-0 is enough control to keep letting Fable-powered agents write directly to live game code — or whether supervision has to come back before stakes rise.
Basis
Sansbury says Spawn is developed by a swarm of Fable-powered agents costing "over $3 million in tokens per month" — "we spend 30x payroll on AI tokens" — that read every error, bug report and metric themselves and ship to production hourly. About 60% of work starts from a production error, a Savi bug report, something odd in logs, or a feature request; Savi files bugs herself, and an agent triages each into fix, won't-fix, or design decision, usually delivering a change to that user within an hour. The mechanism is a closed loop: a broken change can be rolled back in 30 seconds "exactly where it's broken and nowhere else," monitors wake an agent that owns the incident, and they break things on purpose to test recovery. Sansbury credits Fable 5 and 5.1 as the models that made this autonomy possible; he says Opus 5.5 "doesn't quite hack it," and when they tried GPT-6 Astra on a security review "everything stopped working" because Astra disabled every feature until the fixes were done. Willison's own trip: prompted a castle, a dragon, then rode the dragon around the castle.

Unclear The source gives no failure rate — no count of rolled-back changes, incidents per week, or how often an agent's triage call is later reversed.
Next Check whether Sansbury or Willison publishes any rollback or SEV-0 count for Spawn in the weeks after 29th October 2026, when the hourly-ship rule is still fresh.
